The most common cause for data loss and down-time is failures in the storage subsystem, usually failures of hard disk drives. SOLO Gateway protects you against these common problems with full support of RAID controllers for disk mirroring.

Hard disk drives have a long but limited lifetime. Power-spikes and power-failures can occasionally lead to a damaged hard disk drive. With the disk mirroring that SOLO Gateway supports, disk are used in sets of two and are mirrored, so that both disks contain the same data at any given moment. If one of the hard disk drives is damaged, the healthy drive is still operational and contains all data, preventing any data-loss.

Support for mirrored hard disk drives has a very useful side-effect. In the case of a failure of one of the disks, the second disk that is still operational can continue to operate normally, as a stand-alone hard disk drive, thus preventing a long downtime waiting for repair.
